"Fix You" is a personal project that I wanted to film for a long time, and never got around to. One day, I just decided to go for it. It's the biggest project I've undertaken by myself, and was made possible by generous friends, family and even strangers. It's a completely visual story set to, and inspired by, the song "Fix You" by Coldplay, intended to have the song complement the story and the story complement the song. It stars the immensely talented Jeff and Aurora Dickamore. This is a 13 sec short animation film that I have done as a private project that I dedicated to Scandinavian folklore. in the animation you see creatures that are found in Scandinavian folklore. Troll - Trolls The troll is a creature that lives in the northern part of Scandinavia in the deep dark forest. Trolls often lived by themselves and were very aggressive and it was said that it is to say that the trolls exchanged his children against a human child. One way to avoid this was to threaten to kill the child, or renaming it. Especially women were at risk for trolls. They could, among other things, risk being bewitched. Likewise dreaded the trolls steel (or silver), so a knife was good to have when you went out into the "enchanted forest". Some trolls seemed to be sensitive to sunlight and petrified when they met the rays. Älvor- Elves Elves are in Scandinavian folklore, a collective nature spirits who at dusk and at dawn could be seen dancing over meadows, open fields and mossy ground. The elves are perceived as female beings,. Fairies primary role is as pathogens. A person who had "received the elves' often thought to have been blown diseases in which these, and then like cures like it adopted a heavily discharging air toward, for example with a blower, have curative effect. Tomte - Gnome The Gnome was a kind of shadow farmer with supernatural powers who saw to it that the farm has good fortune. He was adopted often be the first man who grew up at the farm, and who will not rest after death, but constantly have to make "his" yard. He proved reluctant, but is described as an older man, and less than people (exactly how small ranges), often with a white beard, gray clothes and hood. It was important to keep in with him and not annoy him in any way. The plot had a peevish temper and could retaliate if, for example neglected animals or treated him disrespectfully. Above all, he watched the animals in the stable and children. Pesten - The Plague The plaque was so devastating, the people soon made it into a character of its own. Pesta comes as the figure of death and illness, in the shape of a hideous, old woman dressed in black, carrying a broom and a rake. She traveled from farm to farm, spreading the plague. If she carried with her the rake, some of the inhabitants would survive, but if she was carrying the broom, everyone in the family would soon die. It is still common to mention Pesta in the context of disease and illness. Bergsrået - Mountain sprite Nature spirits who live in family groups or even in large courts in the mountains. They typically work to make it difficult for miners to obtain minerals by confusing them. Though they aren't entirely opposed to human presence as the will often have sexual relations with them. This, however, was greatly frowned upon by the people of the era. In 1671 a farmhand fell asleep in the woods and awoke to find a woman dressed in white, she gave him food and drink and than had sex with him, and for this the man was condemned to death. Jättar - Giants The Giants were tall and strong human-like creatures. They could be clumsy and silly, and sometimes they were malicious and sneaky. It was believed that they could not stand the ringing bells of the churches. They cast therefore, stone against churches that were built to destroy them. Other names of giants in Nordic mythology is, for example bergresar and Hrimthurs. Bergresarna agree to the mountains. Hrimthurs there in the cold polar regions.
