        This was the opening for RMIT’s End of Year Graduate Screening 2014, showcasing a select handful of quality animation from the Bachelor of Design (Animation & Interactive Media) program. It was screened at the Australian Centre for the Moving Image (ACMI). This was an incredibly fun collaborative project that exercised lots of creative freedom within a tight turnaround deadline.           This Perspectives Seminar was chaired by Dr Wendy Haslem, Coordinator of the Moving Image specialisation in the Master of Arts and Cultural Management at the Graduate School of Humanities and Social Sciences. Are you interested in a career in cinema management? In this Seminar we hear from successful Faculty of Arts alumna Mary Chen about her experience working in the cultural sector in Melbourne. Mary moved to Australia in 2005 to commence a BA at the University of Melbourne, focusing on Cinema and Art History. In 2009, she completed her undergraduate degree and an Honours thesis entitled New Japanese Surrealism in the Cinema of Takeshi Kitano. She also graduated from the Graduate School in 2010 with a Masters in Cinema Management. Since then she has volunteered and worked for various arts and film organisations in Melbourne, including the Australian Centre for the Moving Image (ACMI), the Australian Film Institute (AFI), Melbourne Fringe Festival, Melbourne Comedy Festival and the Melbourne International Film Festival (MIFF). Mary is currently the Assistant Coordinator for MIFF’s 37° South Market as well as the Administrator for the MIFF Premier Fund.
