    • MYSTERIES OF THE UNSEEN WORLD - 3D Giant Screen, data based animation

      from 422 South / Added

422 South has produced 2 animations for the forthcoming Giant Screen 3D film Mysteries of the Unseen World. The two sequences are rendered stereoscopically in 4K resolution, and are possibly the first such animations to have been based on real data. The sequence above shows aircraft movements over the USA The second sequence visualizes shipping movements around the world's oceans. The challenges of rendering 2 channels of 4k images based on millions of points of data were considerable. But the results, when seen on a screen six stories high – are stunning. The film uses ground-breaking techniques to allow viewers to see things, events and creatures not visible to the naked eye. To do this the film-makers make use of high-speed and time-lapse photography, electron microscopy, and nanotechnology. 422 South were brought on board for our expertise in representing activity using data-based animation, to reveal patterns of human travel in the movement of ships and aircraft around the globe. Clips here are shown without audio. from 422 South / Added

Based on real data of take offs and landings based on real GPS data. At first glance it looks like all the planes are just landing. In fact the take-offs are also visible if you look hard - it's just that landings are much slower, so the data leaves a more obvious trace.

Joe Greblo Builds a Dam in the Pacoima Wash adjacent to SHGA's Property. Rather than Rate Kagel Mountaiin a Hang IV site following 2 fatalities in 2008, Joe Greblo decided he could 'improve' the Hang 2 and 3 Runway by making it "more Cross Wind than before" and having it start in the boulder strewn wash which has already been and continues to be the source of many a broken bone. That the SHGA 'Board of Directors' has always Held that Hang IV's only should have the right to land on the upper grass strip while the less experienced Students get to try their luck with the rocks has always been a perplexing paradox of safety. could it be a little HG pecking order run amok? or is it HG Bloodlust? And why, if one fatality caused the Towers Launch to be rated IV, does not 2 deaths in a 2 month period cause the same amount of prudence to be applied in the Landing Zone at Kagel? Or is it purely a business decision? The Runway may be "More Cross wind than before", a choice I've never known anyone in Aviation to make voluntarily but at least it's much less level than ever before too. HUH? Now the Cloud flying in a high Traffic area such as Burbank Approach is a no Brainer. If you don't have a Brain it's fine to do this. Showing off with your movie prop one off hang glider? Insurance? we don't need no stinking insurance. Right Joe? Right Ushpa?
