(HURRICANE, Utah) - Hundreds of children, ages zero to eight, descended on Three Falls Park in Hurricane, Saturday for the annual Hurricane City Easter Egg Hunt. In a matter of minutes, four soccer fields worth of candy and goodies disappeared into Easter baskets, bags, backpacks and tummies. “It lasted nine whole minutes this year,” Hurricane City Mayor John Bramall said, “and that was great.” “Wow! So much fun!” Emilee Stirling, Hurricane Royalty first attendant said. Michelle Holmstead, head organizer for the event, said volunteers and city employees donated hours of their time stuffing eggs and getting the fields ready for the kids. City treasurer Kathy Excell said that they started ordering supplies for the event months in advance to ensure they got what they needed. Sponsors like Lin’s Market place, Chuck-A-Rama and the Hurricane Rotary Easter Car Show made the event possible, Holmstead said. “A lot of work,” Bramall said. “They do a great job.” H264 Hurricane Easter Egg Hunt

(HURRICANE, Utah) - The Hurricane Valley Rotary Club hosted the 29th annual Hurricane Easter Car Show last Saturday at the Hurricane Community Center. The show ran from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. and boasted upward of 250 cars, trucks, vans and even a restored tractor. Every year the Hurricane Valley Rotary Club hosts the show as a fund raiser to support the Rotary Club's many projects and causes Sariah Mortensen, Hurricane Valley Rotary Club president said. Mortensen said the car show each year raises between $15,000 - $30,000. That money goes to fund local programs like the dictionaries each 3rd grader in the WCSD receives from the club. It also goes to support Rotary Club National and international programs, she said. These goals include: eradicating polio; helping to build schools; and get clean drinking water to underdeveloped countries. Last year the car show attracted around 8,000 visitors, Mortensen said. The club expected similar numbers this year as well. 264 Easter Car Show Story

Sydney based artist Bill Brown discusses five decades of art practice with arts writer Andrea Wrobel in association with his 50 year retrospective at S.H. Ervin Gallery in Sydney from 23 April to 1 Jun 2014. A precocious talent in his teens and early 20's, Bill Brown's roller coaster career has been marked by an uncompromising search for his own truth as an artist. This journey has created an extraordinary body of work that moves from early engagement with abstract work through to an intuitive engagement with metaphor and symbolism; a body of work where mastery of drawing, form, colour has intensified as the artist engaged in his restless quest. In this interview, Bill Brown speaks of his creative struggle. www.janetclaytongallery.com.au

Brown’s painterly works stand at a junction of abstraction and figuration – at once deeply personal and universal – they are a response to his inner world while commenting on the aesthetic and geographical spaces in which he as an artist finds himself living. His art address ideas such as, ‘the world in crisis’ and also reflects on his life, private story and personal obsessions. Brown employs a seductive palette and he manipulates gestural marks to convey a depth of emotion and intensity. In painting in this manner his art reverberates with an evocative mood which often relates secrets, and reveals some of his innermost desires and demands. Over the years he has managed to carve an acknowledged and well deserved place in the story of non representational art in Australia. He paints with gusto which arguably others attempt to emulate but without his earned and deserved success. - See more at: http://www.janetclaytongallery.com.au/artists_details.php?artistID=35#sthash.tRIwXwiX.dpuf
