Watch the Amsterdam DNA Trailer: http://vimeo.com/28816870 The Amsterdam Museum has opened an entire new department: Amsterdam DNA. This exhibition will take you on a three-dimensional 45-minute journey through our capital’s history. The versatile story of the city is presented in seven intriguing films, which we created. Above you can see the second film: Revolt Against King and Church. In close cooperation with the curators, we developed seven scripts of about two minutes each, which shed light on the most important elements from more than 1000 years of Amsterdam history. Typical core values of Amsterdam were used as the theme for the films: entrepreneurship, freethinking, creativity and citizenship. Visual material was collected based on the scripts. International collections were used in addition to the collection of the Amsterdam Museum, which has resulted in a selection of international renown. When visual material was not available or suitable, we had to develop the content ourselves. The challenge was to bring the masterpieces to life without affecting their identity, or rather, their soul. We chose to add an extra dimension by making the images three-dimensional. Another dimension, sound, was added to make the whole even more appealing. Lifelike sounds and soundtracks that fit the spirit of the age add luster to the scenes. Next to the seven films we also produced a trailer and a video-wall of approximately seven by three meters, in which past en present blend. Camera Mapping is a 3D technic that allowes you to convert a single image into a scene with 3D camera movement. Everything you see in this video is made of single photos. I used Cinema 4D for the camera mapping and animation as well as Adobe Premiere for the final cut and color grading. I hope you like it! Note: The first music is from the Half-Life 2 game by valve software. The rights are held by valve software.

This demoreel includes works I made for my ArtFX graduation movie "INITIUM" (VES Nomination - Outstanding Visual Effects in a Student Project) and also personal projects. softwares used : Maya (Vray), 3dsmax (Vray), Zbrush, Mari, Nuke, Photoshop, After Effects Take a look at Initium, my graduation movie: http://vimeo.com/69373180 => CONTACT : My linkedin profile: fr.linkedin.com/in/adlambert/ Feel free to contact me: lamber.adrien@gmail.com -------------------------------------------------------------- 1) Spider Robot : CG Illustration created with 3dsmax and Vray. Thanks to Stephane Halleux and his amazing designs. 2) INITIUM (2012-2013) : - 00:15 Main corridor : 2 weeks It was a set created for my graduation movie. I did the concept, modelling (Maya), mapping/texturing (Maya/Mari), lighting (Vray), compositing (Nuke). - 00:21 + 00:31 Ice Canyon : 2-3 weeks I created the environments of the short film. First I made a layout with Maya, then I sculpted the ice in zbrush. Having lot of works I hadn't time to create clean mesh for every icebergs. That is why I decided to use the sculpted environment from zbrush with a polygon decimation. (To reduce the polycount by keeping the details of the geometry). I textured the set with camera mapping. This way I could pre-render the camera projections (red cameras at 00:38), add details in photoshop if needed and use it as final texture. As the result my rendering time was very optimized (one minute max per frames). - 00:24 countdown : 1-2 weeks (for the five shots of the film) I was responsible for every countdown shots of the film. (I did the all shot except the HUD effects). Props modelling : 3 days Texturing/shading : 5 days lighting/rendering/compositing : 1-2 days (per shots) - 00:26 + 00:30 Ice Desert - bird view : 3-4 days I sculpted the environment in zbrush, textured in photoshop then projected with a camera in Maya. Lighting/rendering with Vray. I also created the "sphere" FX by mixing different shaders and procedural textures. Final compositing in Nuke. - 00:28 Character (slow motion) : 3 days I made the lighting/rendering, compositing and FX ("Shield activation", only visible in the film) of the shot. - 00:31 Ice Desert - acceleration : 1 week I made the environment of this shot, the "sphere" FX and pre-compositing. - 00:31 Ice Desert - ride: 2 weeks I tried my environment workflow on this shot first. All was done by myselff. - 00:31 Ice Desert - Sphere Impact : 1 week The environment is a matte painting projected in Nuke on very basic geometry. I also did the Sphere FX and the final compositing. 3) PERSONNAL PROJECT - DRONE (Oblivion): 3 weeks Oblivion is probably my favourite 2013 movie. I fell in love of the robot designed by Daniel Simon. That is why I attempted to make this drone thanks to couples of pictures from the movie and the original design. I did it during my free time, so it is hard to say exactly how much time I spent on it. Modeling : 2 weeks UV/Texturing : 5 days Shading : 4 days 4) PERSONNAL PROJECT - Locomotive : 2 weeks I love trains, particulary locomotives. It was an interesting experience to improve my modelling skills with Maya, I tried to optimized the amount of polygons. 5) SECRET STONES - Dragon statues : 2-3 weeks I sculpted and designed the dragon in Zbrush. It is an important asset I created for a short film I am directing during my free time. I tried to get a wet mossy dragon statue. concept : 1 week dragon modeling : 1 week Set modeling : 1 day Shading/Lighting : 2 days 6) PERSONNAL PROJECT - Cityscape : 2-3 weeks I designed and created this CG environment. I used camera mapping technics to render the final animation. I used FumeFX to generate a of smoke in the background. 7) INITIUM - Establishing shot : 3 weeks I finish on this shot from Initium because I really enjoyed to make it. Except the spaceship and the animation I was responsible for the all shot. I had to do the concept and modelling of the station, sculpted ice cliffs. I did some matte painting, camera mapping, FXs ("laser", fog, "sphere") and the final compositing. I had about one month to make it.
