The Yank-n-Yard returns for the 17th year, hosted at Stone Age Climbing Gym's brand new 23,000 square foot facility in Albuquerque, NM. This community driven climbing competition continues to bring together the climbers of the southwest as well as providing a proving ground for climbing's elite athletes. The evolution of the Yank-n-Yard has brought many changes over it's nearly two decades of history and this year was no different. Putting our own twist on tradition, the event was themed after the Mexican holiday of Dia De Los Muertos. Painted faces filled the gym as 200+ competitors each achieved personal victories and met challenges during the youth and citizen's portion of the event. After Friday's qualifying round, the top six men and women competed for a share of the $5,000 cash purse in the finals round of the open category on Saturday. Local stars went head to head with some of the nation's strongest climbers in front of a crowd that packed the house. Needless to say, the crowd wasn't disappointed and witnessed some of the most impressive on-sights Stone Age has ever seen. The men's category was dominated by Carlo Traversi who was pursued closely by Matty Hong and Austin Geiman. The young and talented Ben Hanna, Aidan Mike and Gareth Bonn filled out the men's category. In the women's category new comers to the Yank-n-Yard Juliana Price and Emily Cole followed Abby Czajkowski who was defending her 3rd place title from 2012. Alex Johnson was able to snag several zone holds overthrowing Abby and moving into 3rd place. The real rivalry however was between Alex Puccio and Megan Mascarenas who tied in the final round. In a bold and noble gesture, Alex challenged Megan to a super final to decide a victor instead of relying on a count back to the qualifying round which would have granted her the podium. Megan capitalized on her opportunity and took 1st place, beating Alex on the super final problem. We invite you to share in the excitement of the Yank-n-Yard through this film highlighting the competition's best moments and keep an eye out for another spectacular event in 2015.

The Flood Fundraiser was a great success!!! As you may know in September, Colorado was hit by unprecedented rainfall and heavily devastating massive floods. Olmec is based out of Boulder, Colorado and we as well as many of our friends were and still are being affected by the floods. While our Olmec family home was flooding and we were working frantically to pump water from our fully finished basement, we came to the realization that we NEEDED to do something to help our flooded community. Thousands of homes were damaged, entire roads washed away along with homes, dams broke, and lives were changed so in order to help, Olmec on October 12th 2013 combined forces with the local climbing gym, The Spot to create an art show based fundraiser to raise money for the flood victims. The fundraiser consisted of a silent auction , live funk jazz music from Fleedami, an art show, body painted women, beer, food, and nothing but a good time!!! The art show featured the work of local artists William Thompson, Hunter Damiani, and Whit Boucher. William and Hunter painted the bodies of four women who walked around the fundraiser mingling with guests and selling raffle tickets. Olmec received incredible raffle and silent auction items from companies all across the country: Smith Optics, Dyrdek Enterprises, Indo Board, Avery Brewing, Kettle and Stone Brewery, Core Power Yoga, Yoga Loft, Meta Skateboards, Neptune Mountineering, Orvis Sporting Goods, Strafe Outerwear, Boulder Cycle, The Fitter, Boulder Vapor House, Cervantes Masterpiece Ballroom, Prana, Adidas, ABC Climbing Gym, Cliff Bar, Hapa, The Boulder Cork, Brasserie Ten Ten, Kim and Jake’s Cakes, Cheba Hut, Mountain Sun, Papa Murphy’s, Noodles & Company, YoYo’s Frozen Yogurt, Rush, Black Jack Pizza, Southside Walnut Café and Boulder Philharmonic Orchestra. Also a special thanks to Lin & Mathew Hawkins for all of their incredible help with everything involving this event. We are extremely grateful for the Spot Gym for allowing us to use their venue for our event and for all of the companies that so generously donated to our fundraiser, making it possible for us to raise money for flood victims and local trail rebuilding. Support art, support your community, support your planet. Wear Olmec! www.olmecapparel.com www.thespotgym.com www.coloradofloodrelief.com www.boulderclimbingcommunity.net www.soundcloud.com/fleedami

One of the strongest rock climbers in the world, Carlo Traversi, returns to Southern Switzerland in the Fall of 2012 to pay homage to his ancestry and leave his mark on the world class boulders of the region. After a month of repeating some of the hardest lines in Magic Wood, he ventures south to the valleys of Ticino where he makes the first ascent of one of the most aesthetic boulders in the world. With his 3 month European travel visa due to expire, his last remaining projects refuse to fall after relentless effort. A return trip would be required. In March of 2013, Carlo travels back to polish off some unfinished business. Following a rare ascent of The Story Of Two Worlds, he manages to polish off one of the last great projects in Brione, naming it The Kingdom and proposing the heavy grade of 8C/V15. Featured Ascents by Carlo Traversi: • The Kingdom 8C/V15 (First Ascent) • Story Of 2 Worlds 8C/V15 (5th Ascent) • In Search Of Time Lost 8C/V15 (3rd Ascent) • Practice Of The Wild 8C/V15 (5th Ascent) • Heritage 8B+/V14 (First Ascent) • Mystic Stylez 8B+/V14 (3rd Ascent) • New Base Line 8B+/V14 • Vecchio Leone 8B/V13 • One Summer In Paradise 8B/V13 • Limited Edition 8A/V11 ...and many more.
