An audio-visual performance within the scope of the 100th anniversary of the William Marsh Rice University in Houston, Texas, USA. Rice invited URBANSCREEN to stage the Spectacle in its academic quadrangle during its Centennial Celebration. The Spectacle chronicles the university´s history by interpreting different decades and its inspiring story. With a 270° approach and a persistent length of 240m projection as well as full spatial sound (6.1), it was a great immersive experience and a pleasure for us to mingle with the centennial audience on the campus. This documentation offers the performance in its original length, from varied perspectives. “The Monument Comes Alive” was a never-before-seen high-tech journey created by Quixotic to show 100 Years of Union Station History. Using state of the art projection mapping and twelve 20K digital projectors, the exterior of Union Station was transformed into an enormous 3D digital canvas that soared a full ten stories tall and one city block wide. From George Guastello, president and CEO of Union Station Kansas City: “We have created an event for the entire community that not only pays tribute to Kansas City’s most iconic landmark, but celebrates our shared history. That history has been captured and brought to life by the creative visionaries at Quixotic, who took the crowd on a fully immersive digital ride the entire city will be talking about for many years to come. ................................................................................
