Europe needs to become more accessible. Too often, buildings and ways cannot be easily reached and passed by everyone -- the video invites to accompany a walk through the European cities Vienna and Bologna. The objective of CAP4Access is to develop and pilot-test methods and tools for collectively gathering and sharing spatial information relevant to accessibility, with the aim to foster awareness of barriers for individuals with limited mobility and to encourage actions for removing such barriers. The project targets a wide range of European citizens, including people with mobility impairments, grassroots initiatives, policy makers and public administrators, local businesses, city planners and last but not least the general public. The VERA scenarios on the governance of research, technological development and innovation (RTDI) in Europe constitute one of the core outcomes of the VERA project. Rather than attempting prediction in terms of “forecast”, they open up the imagination of multiple futures of RTDI governance in the year 2030, constituting a basis for strategic debate, decision-making and joint priority setting. Our task is not visioning ideal futures but rather to point out the chances ahead while at the same time to reflect on the challenges associated to these changes.
