Shot at Gull Island of Santa Cruz, Channel Islands, California, on New Years Eve, 2014. Eric Cheng challenged me to shoot into the sun through the kelp as he was doing with the Sony A7S and the new Atomos Shogun 4K recorder. His vide came out pretty good, but I think mine is better... :-) Thanks Eric!

I spent most of my dives in the Channel Islands this week shooting the Sony a7R and Atomos Shogun in a prototype Nauticam housing, courtesy Nauticam and Reef Photo & Video. Here is a raw (but watermarked) clip from a Sony a7S w/Metabones EF-S adapter and Canon 8-15mm lenses @ 15mm, connected to an Atomos Shogun recording at 4K/24p in Prores HQ (~700 Mbps). It is really a remarkable system. If you want to see it in 4K, you can head over to the YouTube version here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YrUsyMbKx20, or download the original from Vimeo. The YouTube version actually looks a lot better if you turn on hi-res streaming. This clip was shot near Santa Cruz Island at around 10:30am on Wed, Dec 31, 2014.

BEST COASTAL VIEWS IN THE ISLAND. A choice of 4 fabulous, spacious, newly-built, luxury villas in an outstanding location overlooking Gorey harbour and The Royal Bay of Grouville. The magnificant sweep of Jersey's east coast is home to some of the finest luxury properties in the Island. Only five minutes walk away is the picturesque Gorey harbour, once the hub of a thriving oyster and fishing industry, now lined with chic bars and resturants serving fresh seafood and a variety of cuisines in a relaxed waterfront atmosphere. The narrow streets of the village are lined with pretty fishermen's cottages and period properties and boasts a variety of shops, pubs and resturants, including a butcher, convenience and organic greengrocers. And just along the coast is the Royal Jersey Golf Club, a scenic 18-hole links course made famous by local boy and golfing legend Harry Vardon. There can be a few more desirable places in the world to live than Jersey, the most southerly of the British Channel Islands. Lying just fourteen miles off the French Coast. With London, Paris and Geneva just a short flight away and frequent links to all major European destinations, you can enjoy a cosmopolitan lifestyle in a relaxed and unspoiled location without the hassle of city living. With panoramic views of the Royal Bay of Grouville and the medieval Mont Orgueil Castle, Les Residences is a once in a lifetime opportunity to own an historic piece of Jersey real estate. Luxury Waterfront property in Jersey is a rare commodity. Opportunites to purchase a home in a prime coastal location like Gorey is even rarer. Les Residences is the last of a new generation of luxury coastal homes being built in Jersey's very own 'Sandbanks' so in terms of exclusivity it has no equal. With the beach a stones throw away from the Villa's private terraces and balconies and the harbour a couple of minute walk from the front door, the demand for this type of home will always be extremely high. We are therefore confident that the Les Residences development is arguably one of the best property investment opportunities in the Channel Islands. All the villas have been designed to make the most of the magnificent sea views and to allow for maximum flexability in the layout of the interior. Spacious and stylish living areas with private terraces and balconies have been created for al fresco dining and relaxation. The interior of all three floors can be arranged to suit one's own personal preferences. The design, builds quality and in particular the use of specialist materials is to the highest specification. The level of craftmanship and artisans used throughout the development has been World Class.
