This is a short snippet of the show's opening section, performed at Leicester Festival as the headlining piece on the opening day of the festival. This snippet offers a look into the methodologies engaged with live on stage that will tie the loose ends for the physical exploration of narrative in the second half of the show. In this video, Karine and Xavier focus on the dishing of personal details and discussion of personal attachments versus the act of letting go. Performers: Xavier de Sousa, Karine Rathle, Ollie Godwin.

‘Selling the Psycho-geographical Breakdown’ attempts to navigate and fuse several models of language used by seemingly opposing forces from the commercial sector to the world of Contemporary art.’ This ‘After hours’ performance was undertaken after an invitation to respond to the Subversive Spaces: Surrealism and Contemporary Art show at The Whitworth Art Gallery. This resulted in a collaboration between fellow artist/writer Len Horsey and myself. We invited the public to come an view the exhibition as a property for sale, here they followed us ‘Estate Agent’s as we attempted to sell the exhibition before succumbing to it’s surrealist influence! Our highly-strung and over dramatic ‘Estate Agents’ were consistently put through their places and paces by the planted ‘professional actors’ in the touring audience. It was both congenial and serendipitous to our current economic climate that the idea of an estate agent becoming an art guide is totally plausible. This surreal yet playful psycho-geography sought to break down Brecht’s fourth wall - sneak through then carefully reassemble it up. A multilayered intricate ‘model of expression’ was weaved then was allowed to go kaleidoscopic – like a descent into ‘madness’.
