For my second video post, I wanted to take up something that I’ve felt is important to me as a parent, and that’s allowing the contribution of children in the family. I’ve written about this probably more times than any other subject on my site and it’s something I feel pretty strongly about. You can see the above for my thoughts on the matter, though I’d heavily recommend the following, which are much better than my own thoughts – the writings that actually comprise where I got the idea from. For more info, see http://www.scientologyparent.com/scientology-parent-video-blog-2-allowing-children-to-contribute-in-the-family/

          • WMS's 49th Birthday

            from Wilmington Montessori / Added

Today is Wilmington Montessori School's 49th birthday, and luckily for WMS, age is a good thing! This year, WMS has a wonderful birthday present to share with our community - WMS has raised more than $1 million over the past six months. Last July, an anonymous donor gave our school a $1 million gift to be matched over a two-year period. Thanks to the generosity of two loyal donors, WMS has successfully matched our first year's $500,000 fundraising challenge. Judy Scheide, who was one of WMS's first teachers with Marie Dugan, and her husband Bill have generously donated $250,000 and the Longwood Foundation has also donated $250,000. On top of that, our WMS community is well on its way to raising $100,000 for our 2012-13 Annual Fund. We are so grateful to Judy, Bill, the Longwood Foundation and each member of our community who has contributed to our fundraising efforts at any level. The good news is that the 2012-13 Annual Fund and 2013 Auction & Gala fundraising efforts will count toward next year's matching challenge of raising an additional $500,000. We are working hard to meet - and exceed - our goal of raising $2 million for our school. Where will the money go? The WMS Board is in the early stages of creating a strategic plan, which will soon involve our wider community. This plan will address WMS's need for salary increases, an endowment that will support financial aid, and the best educational program for our children. So, it's indeed a very happy 49th birthday for WMS!

Number of children sickened by suspected outbreak of food-borne vomiting virus rises to 8,400. According to The Associated Press, German health authorities say the number of children that have fallen ill with vomiting and diarrhea after eating food from school cafeterias and daycare centres has risen from about 4,500 to 8,400. Authorities in Berlin and the surrounding eastern German states reported the new cases on Saturday, while laboratory investigations to determine the exact cause of the outbreak were still under way. Berlin's health department says the sicknesses are moderate and most children recover within two days without requiring to be hospitalized. Israel's finance minister says Iran's economy is "on the verge of collapse". According to Reuters, Israeli Finance Minister Yu-val Stein-itz said on Sunday that Iran's economy is edging towards collapse due to international sanctions over its controversial nuclear program. Israel regards the prospect of its arch enemy developing nuclear weapons as a threat to its existence, and Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has said that, although sanctions are taking their toll, they are not yet forcing Iran to abandon work that could soon lead to a nuclear warhead. However, Israeli officials appear increasingly ready to acknowledge the effect of recent American and European sanctions designed to restrict Iran's lifeline oil exports. Egyptian president’s adviser describes Israel as ‘occupied Arab Palestine’. According to The Times of Israel, An adviser to Egyptian President Mohammed Morsi on Sunday said “removing the constraints of the Camp David [Peace] Accords” with Israel is a top national priority, and referred to Israel as “occupied Arab Palestine.” In an interview with Egyptian daily Al-Youm A-Sabi’, Mohammed Saif Al-Dawla, an Arab nationalist and Morsi’s adviser for Arab affairs, said that the Mubarak regime provided Israel with “free services” which will not continue under the new regime. The Bible says in Mark 13:7: "And when ye shall hear of wars and rumours of wars, be ye not troubled: for such things must needs be; but the end shall not be yet."
