(ST. GEORGE, Utah) - (+VIDEO) Is there anywhere that provides activity for a toddler to a teen, young adult to a senior all under one roof? Our public libraries can do this with books, DVDs, periodicals and e-resources from age 0 to 110—something for everyone. The Washington County Library system has seven branches scattered throughout the area and hold opportunities and resources for residents. Joel Tucker, Washington County Library System director describes the relevant place public libraries hold in today's ever-changing technological world. He said libraries still buy books but have expanded to include e-books, computers and on-line reference subscriptions. "We invest in a lot more different areas than just books," Tucker said. Patrons can check out audiobooks or e-books the same as a traditional hard copy book and listen or read on their smart phones or e-readers. Tucker said, "Our reference librarians have directions if you need help downloading the [One Click or Overdrive] app to download an e-book, to get you moving forward with the e-book format." Libraries are a place to provide tools for everyone to take advantage of new technology. In addition, the St. George Branch has an adult literacy program in which Tucker invites those interested in getting involved, to become a volunteer. H 264 1280 4 min WashCo Library
