On the surface, Day 085 “The True Wheel” is a metaphor for consistency and repetition within a symmetrical structure or framework. It borrows its title from the Brian Eno song off "Taking Tiger Mountain By Strategy" in which a repeating, circular 3-chord sequence (F# E B) develops across a four-bar pattern, creating a phasing or slippage in the "one" chord emphasized every time "1" occurs, and re-occurs. Ostensibly, The True Wheel is a pre-Day For Night archive of the earliest works of Eric Scott, from "birth" to the 11th of April, 1991 (the day-before-the-first-Day, of Day For Night). An evolving repository of change, The True Wheel is a companion piece (visually) to Day 100 "Every Word I Ever Wrote", and is also home to all manner of Flash experimentation; a virtual Actionscript and Flash source file archive, and a Millennium Wheel of sorts. An accompanying audio CD is also presently in the works.

Produced for Day 1 of the Tomato Workshops NYC, June 2001. An exercise created from my room at Hotel 17, Greenwich Village at 11:30 pm on a very rainy night in New York City. It was made using Flash and Macromedia SoundEdit; using a digital camera, handheld audio recorder and limited resources (certainly no access to internet, c'mon -- it was June 2001 and I was alone in a dingy little hotel)... :)

You may have seen it here first...An amusing (insider's) acknowledgment, from the "Felicity" TV show's writing team and creators to television's reality elements, as mixed into the midst of a client dilemma... Noel and Sean have been butting heads during this episode over business style, as they approach a sporting goods shop in Manhattan. The reference to Eric Scott was hommage paid to Eric Scott (Day For Night), who created NoelCrane.com -- an insider's wink to the many ways in which J.J. Abrams' first television series referenced the grey line between fiction and reality... which in many ways was part of the top-line viral marketing strategy (aka, Day For Night's numerous "Internet Theatre" campaigns) which characterized the lack of division between the content presented by the medium (television) and the observing medium itself (web) back in 1998.
