Hold your ND filter up to the light and you might not see a color cast. Check it out this way, and you might see something different. I'm testing a variety of Variable ND filters, and obviously some are better than others. More at http://cheesycam.com/nd-filter-color-cast-testing/

http://www.chadsorianophotoblog.com/2011/03/canon-eos-rebel-t3i-verdict-and-video.html A 1080p video shot with the Canon EOS Rebel T3i at 29.97fps. I used iMovie'09 to edit and used Quicktime to compress a 550mb H264 video file. I used a Sennheiser MKE400 shotgun microphone for audio, a Manfrotto 501 tripod head with Manfrotto 3221wn legs, a IGUS Drylin Camera Slider W1080-B with Benro 3580 legs and a Fader ND Mark II filter by Fader. For lenses, I utilized the Canon EF 35mm f/1.4L and the Canon EF 100mm f/2.8L IS lenses. The Canon EOS 1D Mark IV was also used to capture the Canon EOS Rebel T3i in action during the video shoot. The Canon EOS 1D Mark IV used a Rode VideoMic shotgun microphone for audio. http://www.chadsorianophotoblog.com/2011/04/canon-eos-rebel-t3i-and-zacuto-z-finder.html A 1080p video shot with the Canon EOS Rebel T3i/600D at 29.97fps. Edited with iMovie'11 and used Quicktime at best quality to compress a 800mb h264 video file. The Rebel T3i was paired with a Canon EF-S 17-55mm f/2.8 IS lens and used a Zacuto Z-Finder Pro 2.5x magnification optical viewfinder on the LCD display with a Zacuto Gorilla Plate attachment. For stability, I used a Manfrotto 701 HDV fluid video head mated to Benro 3580 tripod legs. For audio capture, I used a Sennheiser MKE400 shotgun microphone. To maintain a 1/60th shutter speed and ISO 200 wide open at f/2.8, I used a Fader ND Mark II filter by Fader to reduce the incoming light. http://www.chadsorianophotoblog.com/2011/04/canon-eos-rebel-t3i-and-zacuto-z-finder.html

Video isn't great quality, was testing the Nikon P7000 's video capabilities. I'm doing a review on the Nature brand Fader ND's which are possibly the cheapest Variable ND filters on the market today. Here are some examples of my outdoor test with the new Schneider Fader ND. They claim 1-11 stops of ND filtration. I racked through some places close to home. It has some good and not so great attributes. I'll expand this post soon. Waiting for better weather. :) Read more at www.wideopencamera.com **I'll shot the "Hey how ya doing" macro stuff this week as well. thanks for checking it out!
