      • Now Available: Adding Dynamics to a Mermaid Animation with Bifrost in Maya

        from Digital-Tutors / Added

See more: http://www.digitaltutors.com/tutorial/1909 Throughout these Maya tutorials we'll look into the process of taking a short animation and enhancing it dramatically with dynamic water and hair. As our mermaid emerges from the ocean we'll enlist the help of one of Maya`s newest tools, Bifrost, to quickly and easily simulate the water around her to generate a realistic splash. In addition to this we'll also investigate the use of nHair to give her long flowing locks which also animate as she moves. By the end of this Maya training you’ll understand more key tricks and shortcuts essential to produce a still image or an animated sequence.

        • Now Available: Simulating a Flamethrower Effect in Maya

          from Digital-Tutors / Added

See more: http://www.digitaltutors.com/tutorial/1915 Throughout these Maya tutorials we'll be simulating a flamethrower effect with Maya. We'll explore fluid attributes such as Density, Temperature, Velocity and Fuel to simulate a realistic behavior for our flamethrower. We’ll use a variety of fluid emitters and containers to control the attributes of our simulation. Next we’ll construct both temperature and fuel grids to add even more attributes and realism to the flame effect. Finally we'll focus on shading and rendering our fluids with 3D elements and compose them with Adobe After Effects to produce a realistic flamethrower. By the end of this Maya training you’ll have the skills you need to build a realistic flamethrower effect that’s ready for production.

I was having a little fun with cloud renders and decided to make something inspired by the logo slate of Dreamworks where the kid is fishing from the moon... with a little neon flare. Clouds - Maya 2015 Comp - After Effects CS6

A full cg effect using Houdini's procedural tools to fracture and simulate multiple effects. The Angel was from Stanford University, all credit goes to them. Using paint to control the sizes of the fractured pieces I then went to DOPs and modified the activevalue of the pieces. I used an expression to take color that was transferred from animated objects and used that color as the active value. Then created debris library using particle systems and simulated fluids using the angel geometry. The environment was created in Vue.
