I made hundreds of flights, and published over 60 FPV videos in 2011. Here are many of the best moments from those vids presented in chronological order, starting in mid January and last flight Christmas night. HD footage shot with GoPro Hero HD, and Hero2 at 1080p, from 3 different aircraft, the Skywalker, Foamaroo, and my Tricopter. Enjoy. Firsts for the year included, a flight out to 6 miles and back. Climbing to 6000ft AGL. Flying above the clouds and fog. Night flights with fixed wing and tricopter aircraft. Fireworks. Chasing a train. Many chase and formation flights with other FPV aircraft. Aerobatics. Full FPV setup for my Skywalker is listed here http://www.rcgroups.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1494373#post19132445 Foamaroo uses same gear on a different airframe. Tricopter build described here http://www.rcgroups.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1540907

Just a short HD video of part of a flight today. Rare for it to be calm enough to fly this smoothly this time of year. Unfortunately the GoPro's battery died before I got to play in the trees. Will post up the ground recorded video of buzzing around between the trees later.

Crashed the Foamaroo on a scouting mission Saturday afternoon when the wind blew my ground station tripod over and lost video. Repaired and flew it again Monday just before leaving, and that's this flight.

Compilation of crashes from my Montana vacation. I flew 2-4 times a day, every day or two for 3 weeks while I was in Montana. I streamed a bunch of flights live on justin.tv/daemon42 and crashed a couple times live. This is for my subscribers who wanted to see em in HD.

Last FPV flight of my vacation in Montana, short right after the 4 mile railroad run. Just buzzing around low with the Foamaroo, trying some new lines. So many interesting things to fly low over, around, through.

Several people have asked me how my flight video looked 2 miles out, and and 20-30 feet up. Here's an SD version of the whole flight from the ground recording. Am using FOX700 1.3ghz video Tx, with circularly polarized Cloverleaf antenna. At ground station am using CP Skew Planar Wheel omni which works fine out to about 2 miles at normal flying height, and switched to 7.5dB CP Helical when flying further or lower. Was on the Helical for this flight from about 1.5 miles on.

The railroad track passes by literally the far side of the lawn and runs dead straight for 4 miles. I've been wanting to fly it that full distance as low as I can, so here we go. First turn-around point was 2.3 miles out, and there's one failsafe while about 2 miles and 30 feet up. Turned power up on the UHF Tx and soldiered on. I couldn't stay as low north of the trees because I was shooting video and control signals through that small hole in the trees that I flew through, and would have had to pass through more trees about 1.25 miles up the track. BTW, the train only comes, at most, once a week on Sundays, and passes by at about 15mph. Pretty hard to miss it blowing its horn at the crossings miles away.

A beautiful low evening cruise around the neighborhood with the Foamaroo in perfect flying conditions.

Attempted a 4.5 mile mountain proximity flight with my Foamaroo. Using TLRS control system with the Rx antennas out on the wings 18 inches from the GoPro camera and experienced lots and lots of failsafes, even with 1 or 2W of power. I edited out most of them, but every time you see the nose come up, it's a failsafe. Very frustrating. Can also see from the beginning that launching the low wing version of the Foamaroo with 8000mAh and GoPro on board is challenging.

                      Tags

Tags are keywords that describe videos. For example, a video of your Hawaiian vacation might be tagged with "Hawaii," "beach," "surfing," and "sunburn."
