About a year ago I received an intriguing email from Nikon Tokyo asking me if I would have the time to participate in a special project. Little idea did I have that a few months later I would have the honor to be the first photographer to shoot the new Nikon D600 in the field. From the beginning it was clear to me that I wanted to create a powerful video along with the images and asked my brother Salomon Schulz, who specializes in film-making, to be part of the team to create the official Nikon D600 Movie. Looking at the specs of the D600, we realized this was an extremely versatile camera. That is the reason why we wanted to test the camera shooting landscapes and wildlife, from the deserts of the South West to the mountains of Alaska, and that in winter time.

For us photography is a passion that goes far beyond the technical aspects of a camera. It is about experiencing the natural world. In "CHASING THE LIGHT" we wanted to get the feeling across what it is like to head out into the wild to document the natural world. We wanted everybody who likes nature photography to see themselves in this film and say: It is about time I am getting out into the field again. I hope this film does this for you! • DIY - Steadicam "Merlin" Mounted On Seagull Shouldermount - Canon EOS 7D

Balancing and leveling the Steadicam "Merlin" can be a very time consuming task. If you balance it bottom heavy, you just need a few seconds to level the thingy, but you´ll also get fed up with the permanently tumbling. Balancing it as perfect as possible needs a lot of patience and therefore either strong arms or some little helpers. I had a great idea to connect my merlin to a Seagull shouldermount, which is super easy and effective as hell:) Hope you like my tiny tutorial and maybe it´s also helpful for you :) Equipment used: Canon EOS 7D, Tokina AF 11-16mm f/2.8 AT-X Pro DX, Kenko Polarizer, Steadicam "Merlin", Seagull Shoulderrig, Panasonic Lumix DMC-FZ38, B+W MRC Polarizer, slim, Canon EF 50mm/ f/1,4, USM B+W MRC Polarizer, slim, Manfrotto MA 055 CXPRO3 tripod, Manfrotto 701 HDV videohead, Manfrotto 808 RC4 3way-head, Zoom H2 external Audiorecorder © 2010 The IE·DNlab Project

          • The Beauty of Sweden and Norway – A Time Lapse Journey

            from Tommaso Maiocchi / Added

This is my first time-lapse movie. Taken during our summer vacation in Sweden and Norway. I used about 11,000 individual images. This corresponds to approximately 200 GB of RAW data. Unfortunately the flash player changes the brightness and saturation and the audio is out of sync. So if you can use the HTML5-Player and watch without scaling. Enjoy!
