Later in the 1800's, the White family attained the property and with some additions the fort became the family's farmhouse and was occupied by the family until recent years. For nineteen years the White family has celebrated the fort and their southern heritage with an event they call "A Day At The Fort".

                      Ferry Farm is where George Washington spent his formative years. It was also the scene of two Civil War battles, yet no visible physical features remain to tell the story. To uncover the history the seemingly blank landscape holds, Howard+Revis designed a tablet-based tour visitors use to navigate the area. As they traverse the site, they reveal pieces of a custom-illustrated map depicting Ferry Farm of the 18th century. The technology brings out Ferry Farm’s rich history by incorporating video footage of interviews with archeologists and historians, 3D model views of the home in which George grew up, and custom graphics.
