My 88th short film. Made in June 2014 in Inverness, Scotland. For non commercial purposes only. I did not shoot any of the footage and therefore do not own copyright. This film contains disturbing images of animal cruelty, human torture and suffering. This project came about during a period of writer's block and having no access to film equipment. I had been considering the idea of making a short film using ripped clips from YouTube and other online sources. This film barely scratches the surface of the things that I consider to be fundamentally wrong with our planet and the way we treat it and each other. The music is by Godspeed You! Black Emperor. It is named after the song "Everyone Says Hi" by David Bowie, form his album, "Heathen."

Karl is a call centre employee mindlessly going about his work in auto-pilot mode until a familiar voice forces him to confront a reality he had chosen to ignore. Set against the backdrop of a dark dystopian future, Analogue is a suspenseful Sci-Fi short that explores themes of racial tension by echoing horrors of the past.

International Holocaust Remembrance Day (Ita. Giornata della Memoria) is the first universal memorial day for the victims of the Holocaust. January 27th 1945, marked the liberation of the the largest Nazi death camp, Auschwitz-Birkenau (Poland) by the Soviet troops. On occasion of the event the Italian channel La7 proposed a special programming with documentaries, talk shows and movies related to it. I was asked to create a 7sec bumper to be aired each break that was compatible with the channel's identity and that would remember the Holocaust under a positive perspective, more focused on the liberation than the genocide. The barb wire typical of the death camps transforms into a nice green plant on the arrival of some butterflies representing the liberation. The overall look is kept fresh and abstract while the colors are bright and similar to the the other social campaign the channel aired. The music remembers representative elements such the train and the gate at the beginning, evolving in more naturals sounds enhancing the liberation. I worked along with Josè Guinea Montalvo on the 3D in Maya and Daniele Carmosino did the audio. More on http://www.watermelon.it

Addressing the challenge and responsibility of creating a public monument which evokes a shared set of experiences relating to the Holocaust and its survivors – experiences which defy abstraction or simplification - is fundamental to our proposal. It must also honour the victims and survivors of events which took place a great distance away from Canadian soil, and which are now reaching the edge of living memory. Shunning direct didactic or symbolic content, our proposal centres on an array of thin walls or foils, 14m in height and 20m in length, spaced 120 centimetres apart from each other – just enough for a visitor to pass through in single file. Passage through the Monument is a shared experience only from a distance, and in retrospect, once others have journeyed through it as well. There are 23 textured, tinted and articulated concrete foils in total, facilitating 22 pathways – one for each country in which Jewish communities were decimated during the Holocaust. Their combined impact, an interplay between robustness and frailty, cohesiveness and fragmentation. The narrow passages pull the eyes upwards, through canyon-like undulations which frame the sky above.
