Land + Houses creates a series of works inspired by the fountain in front of the Pacific Design Center. As a twist of fate, the fountain was broken and our trio was forced to repurpose music created for a loud triangular fountain into a series of investigations in and around the fountain, now a dry asphalt pad outside the PDC. The work was inspired by Wassail Kandinsky's writings in Point and Line to Plane. "The angle formed by two lines has an inner sonority which is warm and close to yellow for an acute angle, like a triangle, while the sensibility formed by obtuse angles is more cold and close to blue, like a circle." - Kandinsky. This is a review of Snapseed, the photo editing app for Mac. The review shows many of the controls and settings to create heavily filtered photographic looks. The beauty of the app is that it contains several unique interface controls and shows the effects and treatments in real time. For a $20 app, that's pretty cool.

This tutorial was finished back in May, 2011, but I forgot about it due to my gall bladder issues. The pesky gall bladder was removed in June and I just found this file. I had hoped to do a whole bunch more tutorials, but work got nutty and I did a bunch of video work for the mothership; dooce.com. The cover of Jon Armstrong's novel Yarn was painted by Anthony Palumbo. Taken from Jon's If You're Just Joining Us podcast, where Jon interviewed Anthony about the process from being contacted by the editors at Night Shade Books, to creating sketches, to the final painting, many of the images and artists they discuss are shown in a slide show-style video.
