During the stock market boom of 1996, the then US Federal Reserve chairman Alan Greenspan used the term "Irrational exuberance" fourteen pages into a dinner speech to question whether the market might be overvalued. His utterance of the phrase caused a minor crash, acquiring the meaning of the mindset that occurs during speculative bubbles. The video “Irrational Exuberance or where the cow shits” documents an hour-long poio da vaca (cow dung) draw that took place in 2009 in Mesão Frio, Portugal at the tail end of a bubble. A cow is led round a field marked out in 1000 squares. A master of ceremonies urges the public place bets on where it will defecate to win €300. Irrational Exuberance (or where the cow shits) Kypros Kyprianou, 2009 5 minutes Portuguese with English subtitles ‘Multichannel (Variable Economies)’, Artsway 2010 ‘The Hope of Wrecks’, Art and Design Gallery, University of Hertfordshire and Museum of St Albans, 2013. www.electronicsunset.org

Blurring the fluid boundaries between present and future, documentary and fiction, Paths Through Utopias is a utopian road movie exploring a postcapitalist Europe. Shot during a 7 month journey in 2008 visiting ten utopian experiments the film is half of the book-film project published in France by Editions Zones. From the direct action Climate Camp set up illegally besides Heathrow airport to a hamlet squatted by French art punks, occupied self-managed Serbian factories to a free love commune in an ex Stasi base, this magicorealist travelogue transports us to a parallel universe where money is worthless and private property has been abolished. MusicBox investigates how the brain perceives dimensionality in relation to human gesture and movement using abstracted temporal and spatial data. Sound and image interlock to generate an intriguing liminal space between the abstract and the descriptive, between mark making abstraction and concrete figuration. 'Music box' is the first film to come out of an on going research and development project funded by the Arts Council of England.
