Commissioned in August of 2013 by The Huntington Library and Botanical Gardens to document their new construction in the Chinese Garden, I set about the task with nine cameras, four motion control devices, extra batteries and a boatload of effort... At over 200,000 images, I have plenty of material to work with...yikes! This is the second in a series of four short time lapse narratives. Here's the first one: http://www.buildabetterphotograph.com/time-lapse-narratives/walkway/ The subject of this page is my most ambitious attempt to date: I took an After Effects class to learn more of what I need to learn and master. Also during this process I came to a humbling and profound understanding of editing in general and sound editing and design in particular...it was a bear to cut the movement and sound together. Next time I hope to have a budget allocation for hiring a composer. I was commissioned by the LA chapter of APA to create a time lapse of the installation, exhibit and breakdown of the 3rd annual Off The Clock personal photography exhibition, held in Culver City in the old Helms Bakery building on April 26, 2014. Using four cameras, a Syrp Genie (for panning) and the Lil Mule dolly, I imaged over 11,000 frames in six hours. Yikes! Scott Smith helped me by shooting the opening images of the installation. Lightroom 5, Premiere CC, After Effects CC and Adobe Media Encoder CC were the applications of choice for post production.

Bunch of short ( mostly timelapse) clips edited together to give us a brief look how seasons change in Lahti. We shoot about 300k frames for timelapse every year and sometimes it pretty hard to keep track of every shooting session. That's why i tend to edit "quick rough's" as simple reminders for me... well.. what i'v been up to. That's why few clips look bit un-polished and lowres. I guess this clip should be filed under "WIP" work-in-progress, but here it goes.... jani m GEAR_________________________ • Canon cameras • Nikon V1 (slo-mo clips) • Magic Lantern • Trigger Trap Mobile • Timelapse+ • FloatCam • Lil'Mule dolly SOFTWARE________________ LRtimelapse, Photoshop CS6 & CC, NukeX, Premiere MUSIC________________ Theme by Antti Vuorenmaa

This is a first try tracking shot. It's taken at the observatories at Izaña, Tenerife. Camera is a Canon 5D II, mounted on a Lil Mule on a 4m track. The shots were taken as the Lil Mule was moving and wasn't a move-shoot-move. Footage was then processed via LRTImelapse, Lightroom, Photoshop, QuickTime Player and Premier.
