This film explores playful uses for the increasingly ubiquitous ‘glowing rectangles’ that inhabit the world. We use photographic and animation techniques that were developed to draw moving 3-dimensional typography and objects with an iPad. In dark environments, we play movies on the surface of the iPad that extrude 3-d light forms as they move through the exposure. Multiple exposures with slightly different movies make up the stop-frame animation. We've collected some of the best images from the project and made a book of them you can buy: http://bit.ly/mfmbook Read more at the Dentsu London blog: http://www.dentsulondon.com/blog/2010/09/14/light-painting/ and at the BERG blog: http://berglondon.com/blog/2010/09/14/magic-ipad-light-painting/+ More details

This is the video my friend Scott Painter and I made of my proposal to my lovely fiance. Andrea is a very big Harry Potter fan and we had even talked about possibly having a Harry Potter wedding one day, but always thought it out of the cards. Even though I have always dreamed of a Star Wars wedding. So I wanted to do something special for her and send her on a Harry Potter themed quest when she least expected it. I am a wedding cinematographer and am booked most weekends, so when I told her that I had to film a wedding this fateful Saturday morning, she thought nothing of it. Plus, she had plans with our godchildrens' mom, Erica. Little did she know that Erica would not be meeting her at the door, but instead my friend Scott, complete with video cameras. Here is the heavily truncated quest of puzzles, trivia, and riddles that she had to solve into order to find me waiting for her at our favorite bar.... waiting with one last surprise. Songs: "Hedwig's Theme" by John Williams / Warner Bros / Harry Potter "Without You" & "The Strategy" and "Top of the World" - licensed through VideoBlocks. Made for RGTV. Here is a look at the kind of things I did using Red Giant Software's Magic Bullet Looks whilst grading my short film "Return to Dungeness" I hope it is informative, it runs at 27 minutes. It barely scratches the surface of Magic Bullet Looks. But I will be going into much more detail in later videos. This will hopefully give you a better understanding of the software.
