Push-Ups are a great way to strengthen your core while enhancing upper body strength. The core not only involves the abdominals but includes the muscles of the lumbar, thoracic and cervical spine, along with the pelvic girdle and hip joint. The push-ups in the video demonstrate the involvement of the core for stabilization and performance. These are just a few examples. Be sure to progress accordingly. Watch for compensations such as, low back arching, shoulders elevating or range of motion limitations. If any compensations occur, be sure to regress. Use of these three activities with good form are excellent for fine tuning tennis bio-mechanics. We can relate these activities to strokes performed on the court. Medicine ball uses weight slightly heavier than the racquet, (2lbs) therefore, overloads the legs and hips specifically for serves, backhand overheads, forehand and backhands. You can also play tennis points within the service boxes with the medicine ball. This adds competition and is very fun/challenging. The frisbee emulates close to the exact movement for forehand and backhand slice, then the football spiral's throwing action improves serve motion. Creating a spiral with the football means that the wrist is pronating at the correct point in the throwing motion.

Now I'm going to show you how to put together the Slosh Pipe, Medicine Ball, and Suspension Gym in one video with a great demonstration to finish things off. Most of this equipment can be put together in a short amount of time with no tools really required. Always remember to check your structure before hooking up the straps as you'll be hanging from it. If you have any questions feel free to comment and I'll do my best to help you GetTruFit!
