The MCA celebrates the life and artistic achievements of Richard Hunt, one of Chicago’s most accomplished artists, with an MCA DNA exhibition of his sculptures and drawings. For the last sixty years, Hunt—who turns 80 in September 2015—has created bronze and steel sculptures that explore lyrical forms, the sublime possibilities of abstraction, and the reconciliation of the organic and the industrial. He has also created countless drawings, applying linear gestures and a sense of movement to his works in both media. This exhibition is organized by Naomi Beckwith, Marilyn and Larry Fields Curator at the Museum of Contemporary Art Chicago. www.mcachicago.org

Holcombe Waller: Wayfinders Nov 7–9, 2014 Now, more than ever, we’re deluged with data telling us where we are and what’s around us. In his highly imaginative song cycle Wayfinders, Portland-based performance artist Holcombe Waller responds by asking—both literally and figuratively—where are we? Titled after Wade Davis’s acclaimed book that connects endangered and extinct cultures with our own sense of meaning and purpose, Wayfinders is inner poetry come alive and a haunting blend of lush song arrangements, video, light, and movement. A formidable music project, Wayfinders is an MCA commission and was developed in residency at the MCA earlier this year. http://www2.mcachicago.org/event/holcombe-waller-wayfinders/
