          This is an old mashup from about 2004. Julian Cope's excellent track Zoroaster - which has just been re-issued - has been hacked about and fed through a feedback machine. The low resolution images are a mishmash of public domain newsreel footage, from the 1930s, of Tibet and a VHS version of the superbly photographed 1987 Derek Jarman film, for the Pet Shop Boys, to promote It's A Sin. The suppression of Tibetan culture has been kept quiet for decades. At the time it seemed like a useful way to learn film cutting and may be classed as juvenilia. Hot copies of fresh mashups were always delivered to the Star and Shadow Cinema, in Byker, with the instructions "You could play this as people are coming in". Sadly they never did, which means that you are almost the first person to see it ...
