"In a time of Circulating Flesh, Fractal Flesh and Phantom Flesh organs are extracted and exchanged, bodies and bits of bodies remotely generate recurring patterns of interactivity and haptic technologies generate potent physical presences of virtual flesh. Bodies are hacked, genes are mapped, prosthetics are attached and chimeras are engineered in labs. The trans-species, the trans-gendered and even the trans-human proliferate." Stelarc Moderator William Myers (moderator lezing Stelarc)

FABIO RAGAZZO fabio@kinesisfilm.it 4 STELLE WEB-DOC is an experimental web-based digital-storytelling documentary. It is an immersive web-doc, conceived according to an interactive principle by designing the structure of the hotel as a web framework within which the user can explore its stories. Starting on the clickable facade, viewers can visit the hotel by selecting and following different residents. This journey, step by step, will allow the user to explore the new way of living together inside the hotel and experience the integration and mixture of cultures. In this way the narrative moves to "micro" to "macro", putting together all the pieces of the puzzle in this utopian co-housing experience.

Abstract: The Step + Repeat Series are audio and video based site specific installations, projections, performances, and soundscape projects. The visualizations and sonifications are unique sequences made using a range of performancebased software in which the content and documents (digital photographs, video and audio) are fed live and manipulated in real-time. Concept and Development: Background Premise: This project references a range of childhood memories and is an image that stuck with me through to my recent visit to Chile. A “Chan-cha” (which means “female pig” in English) is a low-tech wooden cart usually rolling on old marine motor bearings acquired from trash bins near the main port district in Valparaiso. They are used in farmers’ markets, fish markets, construction, flea markets and by street venders to carry loads through the streets to and from destinations and are still in use. In this capacity, they are actually called carratons, which means “carrying-cart.” The alternative use, the one I remember most from my early childhood in Chile and where it got its nickname, “Chan-cha” or “pig” is Media Files Available: Online streaming video archive available: click here (approximtely 3 minutes in duration) this video is a high quality Mp4 video stream: quicktime 7 and a broadband connection is recommended. Layout: Installation Specifications: Variable Technology: that of a racing cart, which kids would build using scrap wood and rusty nails to “slide” at amazing speeds down the steep inclines of Valparaiso’s cerro (working class) neighborhoods overlooking the main port. In my family’s case, El Cerro Cordillera. In my most recent visit, I became very fascinated with the continued use of these carts and spent considerable time photographing them in action in both the utilitarian and recreational capacities. I began to draw parallels with maritime-based works like that of Allen Sekula’s ”Fish Story” which focused on the changes in the working environment in the face of a global economy. Technology: Software: Max/MSP/Jitter, Abelton Live, Isadora, and Others-Variable depending on scale (project specific) See Archive for a range of past productions. Hardware: Variable depending on scale

A Video Archive of 1:30 hours of Recorded Step and Repeat Output (Randomized Sequences) Abstract: The Step + Repeat Series are audio and video based site specific installations, projections, performances, and soundscape projects. The visualizations and sonifications are unique sequences made using a range of performancebased software in which the content and documents (digital photographs, video and audio) are fed live and manipulated in real-time. A live audio and video based piece using networked media. Based on digital “step and repeat” cycles: a loose metaphor, the Pittsburgh iteration uses video and audio samples recorded in Pittsburgh, PA, and the surrounding western Pennsylvania area –with touchpoints including Primanti’s, the Strip, the Southside, East Liberty, the Northside, Beaver Falls, Jones & McLaughlin, the Monongahela Incline and Pittsburgh’s three rivers.Divided into into six primary segments and a seventh segment including material contributed by viewers to be filtered through a digital randomizer, step and repeat: Pittsburgh cycle maps entrance into an urban environment via incline railway, transit through the city, reflections of the community’s industrial past, particularly steel, and the transformation of city and countryside as the industrial economic base shifts and nature again takes hold of old worksites. In the last two segments the viewer leaves the city, again on incline railway, and watches as the evening paints the city as a visually appealing study of water and reflection.
