Screens (2011) Live Webcam and Still Images projected onto Plexi covered with Durlar Paper Elena Roznovan This piece explores the idea of the duality of the community we experience today. We have the community around us, and the one we experience online. To keep up with the pace of the modern day life, we often neglect our physical community and resort to the one online. However, online identities are usually faked into something real personas wants to be. In that blur of confusion, identities often times end up becoming generic and lose the value of authenticity. In such circumstances networks are built on interests, but no meaningful online interactions are produced as a result. On the other hand, online communities are just another way for corporations to target groups that have common interests. Thus, these online communities create windows through which we can be manipulated.
