I went to my first horse race this afternoon and brought my Blackmagic Pocket Cinema Camera along with me. I shot with a Nikon 50mm f1.8, nikon to bmpcc speed booster, and a genus circular vari nd filter. Today I realized the need for an IR cut filter, and how unsharp the 50mm f1.8 is when left all the way open at f1.8. I did a quick grade in premiere and threw it on here. Music, video, editing all done by myself.

Shooting video, street photography style, with a Sony VG30 handheld is somewhat not as discreet as shooting photos with a small compact mirrorless camera. But overall, its fun and challenging. All shots with a Lens Turbo and a 50mm f1.8.

Got down with Twixtor for a fire shoot. Not the best settings, cause fire is hard as shit to do slow mo on! I made a few sacrifices scene to scene sometimes letting a little background noise in so I could hold the flame. Not bad for my first fire slow mo. I look forward to perfecting more scenes like these beautiful ones. Sydney was awesome to work with. I want to do another shoot with her!!! Music: Lofticries by Purity Ring

Here's my Cinema Picture Style night test again but with some subtle noise reduction and adjusted gamma. I adjusted the gamma with the levels plug-in in Sony Vegas as Vegas seems to render files darker. Tip: To make sure gamma is exported correctly when using Vegas you need to insert a levels plug-in on the main output and choose the Studio RGB to Computer RGB preset. Glen Chan gives an excellent description and tutorial here: http://www.sundancemediagroup.com/articles/glennchan/levels_in_sony_vegas_part_one.htm Noise reduction on this clip is done with Neat Video. I also used a tiny amount of sharpening but didn't want it to look too soft or artificial. I did try the same kind of shots with the Technicolor Cinestyle Picture style and it's no where near as good for low-light/night shots as the Cinema Picture Style. Cinestyle is inherently more noisy IMO. Note: Oops, the titles haven't been changed from original version See the original footage with additional info here: http://vimeo.com/31661712
