        This is a short section of the interactive presentation given by Dr Des Spence at the Royal College of General Practitioners Annual Conference in Harrogate on the 3rd October 2013. Dr Des Spence is a GP, Maryhill Centre, Glasgow and BMJ "Bad Medicine" columnist. The interactive session was called "Bad Medicine" and chaired by Matt Hoghton, CIRC. Dr Spence's column "From the Frontline" is featured each week on page 37 of the BMJ ('Last Words' section). Nobody else generates more rapid-responses to the BMJ than Dr Spence!             Aaron Katz is a researcher and lecturer at the University of Washington - teaching in the Healthcare Administration and World Health programs. In his April 26, 2011 presentation to our club he showed how the way we do healthcare here in America isn't getting us good results for the immense amount of money we're spending. He also made the point that, because the amount of money spent for healthcare for teachers and staff in k-12 education and higher education goes up and up year after year - sucking up resources - it deprives the kids of a good education.
