Pre-production began back in April of 2008. Actual renders began in the Summer of 2008. Most of the clips were worked on during my spare time secretly. Most of these are super long shots, unfortunately this "early decision" made production longer than it should have been. Regardless I continued the render because they looked beautiful.... I basically spent 1.5 years making this happen. The renders are separated into 2: Diffusion layer and Alpha for the effects later on. During the Summer of 2009, I began working on the VFX work. This is where all these landscapes begin to bloom into color. Here again, what made me think twice was that I needed to work in 12 bit. It was the craziest days of my life. Either way, it's now complete. Sound Design: The sound was designed using Absynth 4. Initially the plan was to compose a dramatic, cinematic music track, but as I began post-production, I began to see other possibilities. I instead decided that it was fair to produce a simple, tonal resonance based on the landscapes themselves. Of course this took some time and math, but the sound's the result. Regardless of all, the original audio is 5.1 surround. More questions goes to: skybase@gmail.com Video also on: http://skybase.deviantart.com

"Witnessing the overture for the Destiny of Man". This was the furthest away from Earth humans had EVER gone; the astronauts passed the Van Allen radiation belt. Apollo 8 led to the first images taken by humans of the whole Earth, including the first Earthrise pic, where the Earth appears to rise above the lunar horizon. The crew circled Moon 10x in 20 hours, going out of radio contact with Earth.

Contest Entry: World's Least Relaxing HD Videos. A synthesis of 50s-inspired cheap light fixtures, too many blank discs and a lost weekend plus some. Soundtrack: original composition using digital synthesizer, live sound and reprocessed and looped public domain sound samples from the Jovian moons. The 3rd cut (replacing cuts 1 & 2) will appear in HD. This is an actively evolving piece. I think I may wait to lock it down for quite some time. Suggestions made in comments or other ways may be used to influence the evolution towards a final cut. Potential changes may include the shooting of additional footage. My present standing restriction on the piece is that it must remain under 6 minutes in length, with a target of 5 minutes.

I came onto this effect accidentally after I was trying to find out how the physics system of Trapcode Particular worked in which you generate particles in Adobe After Effects' 3D engine trying to create an effect of particles dropping down to the floor and then (through some colission parameters) trying to seem as if the particles would stop and splash like something which falls into water or any fluid that lands from a height on materialized stuff. Wow

Until recently it was thought that the Moon arose from the original nebula from which planets and many satellites were formed. But as a result of the journeys of the Apollo missions, the theory arose that our satellite was formed as a consequence of a collision between the Earth and a large celestial body. This theory has been backed up by computer simulations showing in images how this catastrophic event could have taken place. In the segment “The Formation of the Moon” you can see in a realistic way how this cosmic encounter could not only have created the Moon, but also the basin on Earth that today forms the Pacific Ocean.

                      Tags
