1. Deep-sea corals of Isla Roatan (HD)

    from Aquanautix / Added

You are 600 meters deep in a yellow submarine called 'Idabel', looking at a volcanic seafloor off Isla Roatan in Bay Islands, Honduras. The landscape consists of large deep-sea corals and sponges with numerous associated species of fishes, crabs, and seastars. NOAA's DeepCAST Expeditions 2010-2012 documented hundreds of coral and sponge colonies in many different species, some of which were very large and presumedly very old, on the order of decades to centuries. *DeepCAST = Deep Coral and Associated Species Taxonomy and Ecology
