By far the coolest sunset I've ever seen! Fog wall rolling in over Little Presque Isle in Marquette, MI last night. My watch said it went from 65° where we were sitting immediately to 50° when the wall hit us. Unfortunately my phone died as we ran back to our cars- because the sound the fog made as it rushed through the trees was just as incredible. Love this place!

"The Making of the Presque Isle Water Trail" is an innovative, inspiring documentary film that shows how a water trail is planned and implemented. Both educational and entertaining, it explains how a water trail can benefit both communities and the environment. It highlights the Pennsylvania Water Trail Program, inspires stewardship, and acts as a training tool and park showpiece. This film is a production of the Pennsylvania Department of Conservation and Natural Resources. The filmmakers, David Rohm, Melissa Rohm, and Renee Rosensteel, not only captured the scenic beauty of the proposed trail, but also the process of developing a trail from start to finish. The film is both a companion to the water trail and a standalone piece. It serves to draw paddlers and other visitors to Presque Isle and also inspires the planning and development of other water trails in the Pennsylvania water trail system. "The Making of the Presque Isle Water Trail" took more than a year and a half to complete, with more than 2000 planning, filming, and editing hours. Spending so much time in, on, and under the water gave the film crew a renewed appreciation for this important and unique place. We thought this film would be the best way to show the beauty of Presque Isle, its wildlife, and its environment. Presque Isle State Park is a 3,200-acre sandy peninsula that arches into Lake Erie. As Pennsylvania’s only “seashore,” Presque Isle offers its visitors a beautiful coastline and many recreational activities, including swimming, boating, fishing, hiking, bicycling, and in-line skating. A National Natural Landmark, Presque Isle is rich in geological and biological diversity, and is a favorite spot for migrating birds. Because of its many unique habitats, Presque Isle contains a greater number of the state’s endangered, threatened, and rare species than any other area of comparable size in Pennsylvania. In a park that receives approximately four million visitors per year, The Presque Isle Water Trail is a low-impact, sustainable, effective way to educate visitors about the natural, historical, geological, and ecological importance of the area; to provide another form of exercise suitable for all age groups and abilities; and to encourage conservation. The park hosts thousands of paddlers each year. Paddle Without Pollution’s Water Trail plans for Presque Isle State Park combine water trail interpretive routes, signage, and maps with subsequent trail stewardship. The route will be suitable for canoes, kayaks, and stand-up paddleboards.
