This brief time lapse sequence was shot over about a thirty minute period of real time, and shows the view looking south along Llyn Padarn, in the Snowdonia National Park. The mountain in the background is Snowdon, with cumulus clouds forming and fading over its summit as air is pushed upwards and cools. All in all, a rare lovely weather day in North Wales. A lovely day in the Snowdonia National Park, North Wales, watching and filming as fluffy white cumulus clouds pass by over the top of my favourite mountain, Tryfan in the Glydrerau range. I really like the play of shadows over the flanks and peak of the mountain, speeded up here by a factor of fifty. This time lapse video shows the transition from day to night looking southwest towards the peak of Snowdon, from the shores of Llyn Llydaw in Snowdonia, North Wales It was a bitterly cold winter's eve as I set up camp by Llyn Llydaw after a trek up the Miner's Path from the Pen Y Pass car park, planning to capture the fading of twilight into night over Wales' highest peak, followed by the tracks of stars and moon wheeling through the wonderfully dark skies overhead Notwithstanding some technical issues involving very poor battery life and corrupting memory cards I'm quite pleased with the outcome. I was even more pleased to get back to my car and turn on the heater when I'd finished! A trip to the seaside isn't complete without fish & chips. Meet Will from Mermaid fish bar, Barmouth. Learn how to make the perfect fish & chips, a quintessential seaside holiday essential near our Barmouth holiday cottages. www.qualitycottages.co.uk/snowdonia/barmouth. Our roving film maker, Polly meets Will at the Mermaid fish bar, one of The Guardian readers 'favourite chippies around the UK coast' who kindly tells her the tale of his family business and shows us how to make the perfect fish and chips. Nestled in the Snowdonia National Park in North Wales, and within easy access of our fine selection of Barmouth holiday cottages this is exactly the classic fish & chip shop you want to find on a welsh beach holiday. The perfect Welsh seaside trip ends after a day of lots of laughter, damp sand in your toes, a pack of crisply battered fish and chips from a classic coastal chippie and a great spot to eat it. At Barmouth we would recommend finding a bench or sit with your legs dangling over the quay, taking in the scenery of the Mawddach estuary in front of you. " you're presented with a large, meaty, piece of cod encased in a light golden batter that breaks into perfect flakes of sweet flesh beneath your fingertips. The fish sits on a mound of steaming hot chips that have been liberally sprinkled with malt vinegar and sea salt so that, as you peel back the layers of paper, you're immediately wafted with a dense fog of mouth-watering flavours. And you won't find any of those feeble French fries here. Each chip, as chunky as a Lego building block, is cooked until it just turns crunchy. Yet, as you bite into its crispy shell, the inside is a light, fluffy cloud of delicious potato."
