1. Binaural Train Video

I decided to record this train with my homemade binaural head. I'm still in the testing stages with the microphone, so I don't have all the bugs worked out yet. The signal distorts right as the train passes, which is unfortunate. The signal distorted at the microphone level, which surprises me because the mics are rated at 125db. Possibly still louder than that at the distanced I mic'd it from. Next time I'll back up the mic about 10 feet to see how it does there.

There is a first time for everything and recording bullet pass bys and impacts was a first for me. I’ve always wanted to try my hand at bullet recording but never had the knowledge or association with anyone that had a permit to use a gun suppressor. After some searching, now I do. Here are some clips from the first recording session of a iMac being shot at with slow moving bullets shot from a suppressed Glock 22 with custom made 40 caliber rounds.

This is a video of me recording the sound of emptying a 55 gallon drum filled with yucky, rusty water for an upcoming sound effects library. Quite a workout and sounded like glubs. Enjoy! -Frank

I used 4 microphones to record sounds of car engine. The main pair was Sennheiser MKH 416 (shotgun) for wind safety I added omnidirectional microphone for measurement purposes (the only one I had at that time) from NTI. I put them to Windshield/windjammer, mounted on boom and taped to camera car rig system ;-) Additional dynamic microphone was under the hood very close to engine. Last microphone (Neumann KM 84 with Rycote Babyball) was mounted on camera rig system to capture rear right wheel sounds. Recording device was Cantar-X. Recorded on 2011/12/08, Prague, Czech republic
