    • Valley Town Landscape

from Neil Asher Films / Added

This is a film that I've been wanting to make for a long time. A portrait of the landscape of my home town Neath, South Wales UK and a reason to further explore some of the places I hadn't visited since a child and whilst capturing some view points of the places that the locals take for granted and forget to visit. Special thanks to Marc Rees for his narration of R.S. Thomas' poem 'Welsh Landscape' Music sourced from the Vimeo Music Store: "Lullaby" by _ghost (http://freemusicarchive.org/music/_ghost/ccMixter/ghost_-_Lullaby)

After waving goodbye to Sara and the kids for another day at school, I returned to my hot coffee and some incredible light shining through the kitchen window from an uncharacteristic clear sky, for it was 21st January, 2013 and the sun had yet to rise above the 'Y Foel' mountain in Cimla, Neath. So like a man possessed, I ran upstairs, got some kit together and threw it into the car. I then raced to the top of Drummau mountain to film the sun rising into the sky. Unfortunately, I missed that sweet moment but captured some lovely 'low winter sun' on the landscape. from Dean Homicki / Added

To relax and unwind some people watch a movie, take a bath or chow down on eggs and bacon. Not Dean Homicki, founder of skemah really useful garden products, "Give me a few rocks and I get going", remarks Dean. "Unbeknowns to me, my good friend Rob Hill of Ambleside farm was collecting rocks for months. Then one day, Rob ask me if I need some time to chill-out and relax by building a stone wall or two. How could I refuse? Bless you Mr Hill". Dean had his camera poised and time-lapse image capture did the rest…with a liitle sweat and relaxing tears of joy of course! Enjoy! Skemah.com/journal - Thanks to Rob, Vivien, Tom, Helen, Anna & Alex that shared in the fun of dry stone walling. Bon voyage our dear skemah friends. See you greenery skemahing in the UK soon! XO

This is a video of a new house, recently completed, on a beautiful site by the sea in Wexford. The house is located on a headland in a protected scenic amenity area with spectacular views. The challenge was to create a home that made the most of this site while respecting it.

On October 25, 2011, the amazing rustic Italian port fishing village of Vernazza, Italy and its sister town of Monterosso al Mare were devistated by torrential downpours and a 20 foot, 30 mile perhour wall of mud, stone and debris raced down through the main street of Vernazza, Via Roma, destroying everything in its path and dragging cars, parts of buildings, supplies, merchandise, and even human lives into the Mediterranean Sea. Every single business in Vernazza were destroyed and three lives were lost. Seven lives were lost in Monterroso. The residents of Vernazza have worked diligently to rebuild their lives . "These people built these terraces, which stretch throughout this fifteen kilometer long, 3700 foot tall mountainous reagion call Le Cinque Terre, and have maintained them for nearly a thousand years, one twenty foot tall mudslide will not stop them. They are resilient, passionate and hard working people." ~ Larry A Burns Jr
