As I listened to her, I realized that she was worried that I had not realized that the dragon fly I was conversing with, was dead... this piece was conceived from this exchange.

I'm creating the music/soundscape for the new Nature Gallery at Derby Museum & Gallery. I want to make something that envelopes the room, where you can let the sounds surround you, or explore where the different sounds are coming from. This video shows the first test where I set out to find a good configuration for the surround sound. The music is a demo I've been working on for my new album, so is not (at the time of writing) part of the installation. For that I'm going to write something new, based on the sounds of nature I've been recording throughout the autumn. The birdsong that you can hear is taken from a recording of a Nightingale singing, made in 1949. You can find out about that recording in this video: https://vimeo.com/106166381
