Another week of What's The Point. I ask what is the point in being one person. On a daily basis we are challenged with little opportunities to be one person who stands for something. How often do you find yourself being one person in a room doing the right thing and feel good about it. Share your stories!

My examples and inspiration for this video comes from the book Linchpin by Seth Godin. Give this book a read it touches mostly on being indispensable in the market place however, I believe it mostly relates to the roles that we as designers have within any work environment or corporate structure. As always leave comments and give offer up feedback.

This week we are continuing the conversation form last weeks videos. After a week to think about what makes a good company and how can we learn from the companies that we all highlighted here, I believe it all comes down to building tangible and cultural opportunities. At the same time companies have to be willing to give with out receiving or share their motives with the public. In essence we need to humanize corporations. How do we achieve this though? Individually and as designers we have an opportunity to make things uncomfortable to produce thought from an unstimulated society.

This month we will be discussing how it is possible to create products, companies, or services that have good intentions internally and externally while also remaining competitive in a capitalistic economy. There are many wonderful companies paving the way, but I want to introduce to you lululemon athletica. lululemon is a yoga inspired athletic apparel company that is truly shaking things up in the way the business is run and by the products they make. http://www.lululemon.com/ Another company worth noting that did not make it into the video is Graces Goodness, a slow food business that I have recently been introduced to. Beside being a sustainable food option for Atlanta city dwellers, this business is on the cusp of introducing a truly innovative pricing system to make this type of food accessible to all. http://www.gracesgoodness.com/

This past week was a big week for food news; WalMart is setting out to control what you eat and Dole is cutting out the crap. I also share with you some samples of my first round of dried fruit. It is tasty but there its a long road ahead.
