1. Ross Learning System

The Ross Learning System is a literary narrative of the evolution of human consciousness that unfolds chronologically through the grades. Cultural History is the core of the Curriculum. It is taught chronologically through the grades as a dynamic system expanding in complexity. Each grade focuses on the thematic development of a particular historical period and studies this theme across global cultures while integrating with all other disciplines. In this way, the Spiral provides a cohesive architecture for analysis of the past as a dynamical system and enables students to more fully understand the present while envisioning the future. • Age Work Balance: Balanced approaches for an ageing workforce in metropolitan area

The risk of long-term unemployment is generally higher for individuals in groups with structurally low labour market participation. Moreover setting up of the right incentives to work seems to be especially difficult for these specific groups. In several member states are positive measures in place to support those furthest from the labour market. The project aimed to concentrate on existing practices targeted to older long-term unemployed people over 50 in metropolitan areas. Via a social experiment we want to find out what constitutes an innovative approach in order to integrate them into sustainable employment. In this context we assume that an innovative approach alone, will not be sufficient to achieve the goal to bring them into sustainable employment. There are additional variables which are playing a decisive role in making a project successful. But how strong or how weak is the influence of these other variables? We will concentrate on the variable “network – structure”. www.age-work-balance.metropolisnet.eu/project-description/

SOQUA Summer School 2012 took place in one of the historic locations of Schönbrunn Palace in Vienna. The video offers a synopsis of this week with international contributors and participants as well as an overlook on trends on social innovation on an European Level. The Summer School on social innovation is labelled >SOQUA Summer School< because it is an extension of a post-graduate course programme named “Sozialwissenschaftliche Berufsqualifizierung” (social science vocational training, in short “SOQUA”: www.soqua.net) that is run in Austria jointly by three social science institutes (FORBA, SORA, ZSI) since 2006 as a 2-year course programme. In 2012 ZSI (Centre for Social Innovation/ www.zsi.at) took the lead to implement for the second time a summer school rooted in SOQUA, this time on social innovation. Wikistrat is an Israeli startup that provides an online model for strategic collaboration. Throughout the month of June, teams used Wikistrat’s interface to formulate and share strategies. Claremont Graduate University's School of Politics and Economics claimed first place and a $10,000 prize in the Wikistrat 2011 Grand Strategy Competition. The month-long contest pitted 31 graduate schools and think tanks from across the globe against one another to develop strategies pertaining to globalization and geopolitics. After being assigned to represent a country, teams forecast their country's national trajectory, developed national policies, brainstormed alternate futures, and responded to hypothetical geopolitical crises. cgu.edu/pages/4941.asp?item=5309

PARACITY WienParisBeijingDetroitinprogress 005_006_007_008 This project has as an aim the installation of international meetings of students, architects and of designers brought together in a collective project. This project thus fits in a prospective step which opens a reflexion on a whole of stakes which characterize the current changes: - phenomenon of metropolisation - public Spaces - domestic Cells/temporary architecture - (s) Object - New media - Transdisciplinarity It is an International project which has as an ambition to create a platform of exchanges between students, architects and designers, the schools, the institutions and the various partners. These various entities and the problems posed in the context of the project impose a reflexion, a design and a realization whose matrix is deeply marked by its transdisciplinarity.Indeed, the various components of the platform are characterized by the diversity of their practices, their teaching and of their structure but also by the definition of their stakes. Schools of Design, Schools of applied Art, Schools of Architecture and Architecture Departments of universities are linked together. Experimenta #1: Vienne The School of Architecture of Paris Val de Seine, ENSCI (National School of Design), Technische Üniversitat Wien (Alsop Institute), Universität für Angewandte Kunst Wien (University of Applied arts) and Architektur in Progress conceived, realized and tried out in June 2005 on the site of Yppenplatz their proposals. The principal stake of Paracity is to test and "to live" in Public Place, also the projects led to Vienna are multi-purpose and "reversible". The Parabox are at the same time Playgrounds for the children, Lounges the evening and the Bedrooms with the night and also an Interactive Luminous course with the integrated sensors and fluorescents. The shower_stage are showers, dancing waters, but also Stages for videos projections and Theater Play. The kitchen Lab is a collective kitchen. The platform is a fixed structure for rest and meetings. Throughout June, we programmed events with designers (Staudecker Iris), architects (Alles Wird Gut, Eisvögel, Feld 72, Querkraft, Map Office), Video (Denize Sozen, RENFAH, Coelestine Engels, etc), artists (Norbert Brunner). These proposals are specifics to the Viennese context, so new projects are today to conceive for Paris.
