Tripler encouraged its employees to get more active by implementing a 50 Mile Challenge in May, a month-long competition pitting departments against each other to see which office could track the most "miles." Participants could log miles by performing almost any physical activity by using a conversion tool recommended by Army Public Health Nursing. The 50 Mile Challenge is just one part of Tripler's new "Be Well" campaign, which promotes healthy lifestyles for TAMC staff. This video was created by Tripler's Visual Information Office.

Soldiers and civilian employees from the Warrior Transition Battalion, Schofield Barracks, and U.S. Army Health Clinic-Schofield Barracks talk about an Asian or Pacific Islander American who has influenced their life. Asian-Pacific Americans have been in the United States for over 150 years; however, little is known about their history. To better understand the variety of backgrounds, traditions, and paradigms of these vital members of our society is to better understand what makes America itself great as a nation of immigrants. "Asian-Pacific-American" affixes a common label to a vast array of ethnic groups. The common American perception tends to lump all Asians together into one racial group, without distinct ethnic and cultural differences. The term actually identifies individuals from at least 29 different countries, each with a unique historical and cultural heritage of its own. There are as many differences in language, food, and religions among Asian-Pacific-Americans as among the Greeks, Irish, Italians, or Germans.

            I. A.M. STRONG is the Army’s campaign to combat sexual assaults by engaging all Soldiers in preventing sexual assaults before they occur. Grounded by our shared belief in the Army Values, we are a band of brothers and sisters, placing mission first, never accepting defeat, never quitting and never leaving a fallen comrade. Our interdependence and shared respect among comrades frames who we are as a Team and an Army - a Team that finds sexual assault reprehensible and beyond toleration. Those who commit assaults hurt a member of our Team and wound our Army. This criminal act is cowardly and damaging to the very moral fiber that gives our Army its innermost strength. As Soldiers and proud members of our Team, we are duty bound to Intervene, Act, and Motivate others to stop sexual assaults and the sexually offensive language and gestures that create an environment friendly to this abuse. To report a sexual assault or to talk to Tripler's SHARP coordinator, call 808-433-3576 or 706-984-9739. Visit www.sexualassault.army.mil for more information on the Army's SHARP program.
