It was perhaps sometime in 1983 when I first saw Seyyed Mohammad Rafiq clicking photographs in the compound of the Basij building in Shahriyar.
While watching his hands and camera I was wondering what he was up to. At the very first glance I became interested in photography! Noticing my interest he placed the camera in my hands and asked me to just click and I literally clicked everything under the sky until the shutter jammed.
The prize for three months of working in my maternal uncle’s orchard during the summer vacation was my new camera with which I headed to the warfront and it has since been my companion everywhere.
In the following years I got acquainted with the works and thoughts of great personalities like Fakhr al-Dini, Kasra’iyan, Jalali, Golestan and Avini. Despite all my experience I still believe I do not know what needs to be done. I trust in God to show me the right path.
