I enjoy MMD videos with a healthy amount of nudity and like to use MMD myself from time to time. However I'm the type of person who adds 20 point lights that cast shadows, SSAO and realtime reflections and then gets "Out of video memory" errors. This might be a bit too much for a DirectX based renderer.
That's why I started using Blender for most things. It's very complicated to learn, but rewards it's user with a lot of freedom. Although my casual experience with 3D software started 13 years ago with Bryce and later Cinema 4D, I only started using Blender a little more than 2 years ago. So I should still be able to improve a lot.
