Team Haupt
What would you do if your husband, your best friend, your son, your brother was fighting a deadly disease? What would you do if the cure to that disease was hidden in a sea of people and the odds of finding it were 1 in 30,000.
You’d call your friends, and their friends, and their friends and you wouldn’t stop until you found a match. Team Haupt needs your help to find Jonathan a match. Help us, help Jonathan!
Jonathan (Oakton '94, Goucher '98) is a 33-year old athlete, sports fan and outdoor lover. He is as much at home hiking the trails around the Washington, DC area, where he grew up, as he is traveling the globe with his wife and college sweetheart, Courtney. He is a devoted son, brother, friend and teammate, and has been committed to getting involved and giving back his entire life. Jonathan is truly that person who would give a stranger the shirt off his back if needed.
Jonathan was diagnosed with Acute Myelogenous Leukemia (AML), a very aggressive blood cancer, in March 2009. He underwent rounds of chemotherapy and, unfortunately, did not achieve remission with chemo alone. In such a short matter of time, Jonathan went from normal everyday life to cancer patient to chemo champion to being in critical need of a bone marrow transplant.
His best chance for a cure is a bone marrow transplant, but there are currently no matches on the registry. More than likely Jonathan's match will be of European Jewish ancestry, however, anyone could be his match or could help someone else.
Please consider registering to become a donor today. You may just be the perfect miracle match for Jonathan -- or another patient in urgent need like him!
