Vancouver, British Columbia- February 6, 2011 - In the spirit and tradition of TED, TEDxGeorgiaStrait brings together innovators, explorers, teachers and learners in an environment that encourages conversation, collaboration and creative ways to think about the future. The independently produced event, operated under license from TED, will take place on February 26th, 2011 at Forest Sciences Centre, UBC in Vancouver, BC. The theme of the event is "The New Energy", focusing on one of the most important topics facing human civilization today: the future of energy.

The goal of this event is to raise awareness about many of the amazing and ambitious efforts that are currently being undertaken. TEDxGeorgiaStrait is about realizing the vast potential that awaits the human race and how ingenuity will lead us to a sustainable future.
