1 week agoEdmond Terakopian commented on Canon C300 Demo ReelI had a look on Vimeo and on FCP X and can't see any CA at all. I do see a little aliasing on the two sets of fine lines running around the edge of the guitar which I hadn't noticed before as they are subtle. I think Philip Bloom is planning to do a comparison between the large format video cameras, so it may be worth having a look at that when he does it. I have no experience with the F3 and I'm primarily a photographer, so can't comment. All I can say with certainty is that I was very impressed by the C300!

Why not move along and find material that is more appropriate for your tastes? The internet is a large place. Better still, hire one and do your own tests.

2 weeks agoEdmond Terakopian commented on Canon C300 Demo ReelThe highlights hold an amazing amount of detail, especially when shot at the native 850 ISO. These high key shots at the beginning were all checked on a Panasonic broadcast reference monitor and on vector scopes and have the detail. On some of them, the grading has flattened out the extreme highlights a tad, but comparing the ProRes 422 file to the one on Vimeo, it's the double compression (one at my end to upload and Vimeo's own) that has got rid of the extreme highlight and crushed the extreme shadow. Alas there is no way of just having a pure ProRes 422 file to stream. Another variable of course is if the viewers monitor is calibrated both both luminosity and colour; you may be losing out some detail.
