The Modern Story (TMS) is an educational program that bridges the technological divide by introducing digital skills and storytelling practices to youth and educators around the world.

Through a student-centered curriculum, youth learn and apply advanced literacy and English language skills, and develop a set of 21rst century digital skills that contribute to their vocational training. Experiential learning projects allow students to initiate connections with organizations that are working to directly solve the social and environmental issues that the students identify. Students connect their voices to the global community by sharing their work on a weblog and through exchanges with teenagers near and far. Students learn about career opportunities in the technology sector by participating in TMS-supported career panels and mentorship programs with top technology companies.

Exploring their personal, social, and environmental surroundings, participants of TMS are empowered to think critically, create, share, and then take action in their communities. Past stories include:
Women & Education, Islam In Our School, Child Labor, Air Pollution, Indian Culture and Dance. Students conceptualize, shoot, and produce the digital stories entirely on their own.
