Maya Salganek, Assistant Professor, Film/Video Arts, University of Alaska Fairbanks. I have worked in Independent Feature Film as a Co-Producer of Sundance feature, "Chronic Town" (2008), Associate Producer of "Dear Lemon Lima" (2009), and most recently produced "Alaskaland" by Chinonye Chukwu (2011). I have also produced and directed several documentary films about Alaska Native games. From 2007-2009 I collaborated with scientists and film students for the International Polar Year by producing a multimedia DVD to accompany the text, Field Techniques in Sea Ice Research, published in 2010 (University of Alaska Press). With a Masters in Anthropology and BAFA in Fine Arts photography, my film work is often an extension of visual anthropology and cultural expression. I teach courses in dramatic film production, visual anthropology, film directing, Alaska Native performance, film criticism, and film production management.
