Topaz Adizes has more than ten years experience as a writer/director. His films have screened at the Sundance film festival twice (2009 & 2010), as well as around the world from the Pompidou Centre in Paris, the American Museum of Natural History in New York, the Morelia International Film Festival, Doc Point Helsinki and the Transylvania International Film Festival to name a few.

Topaz’s award winning narrative short films include Laredo, Texas (Sundance 2010, Special Jury Prize Boston Independent Film Festival, Red Citation Humanitarian Award) Trece Años, (Sundance 2009, Special Jury Mention Ashland Independent Film Festival), and City (Winner Best Short Aspen Shorts Film Festival 2007). Additionally, his feature documentary, Americana, which was shot around the world and examines American identity in a global context, has screened internationally and domestically to critical acclaim.

Currently Topaz is developing his next feature film, Look for the Light. The film is being produced by Restrepo’s Tim Hetherington and was invited to Film Independent’s Fast Track Program 2010, Film Independent’s Screenwriter’s Lab 2010, and IFP’s Emerging Narrative’s Section 2010. The project is a finalist for the Nantucket Screenwriters Lab and the SFFS/Hearst Screenwriting grant.

In addition to his own projects, Topaz has had the valuable experience of learning from Steven Spielberg on the sets of Munich and War of the Worlds, Ridley Scott on the set of Kingdom Of Heaven and P.T. Anderson with There Will Be Blood.

Topaz has a BA in philosophy from UC Berkeley and Oxford University, has traveled to over 40 countries, and is fluent in Hebrew, Spanish, Swedish and English.
