It is an honor to host the Trabzon 2011 European Youth Olympic Festival in Turkey. The success of Trabzon 2011 European Youth Olympic Festival (EYOF) is critical for the region as sport and physical recreation play a vital role in the social, cultural and economic wellbeing of any society. Trabzon has very suitable conditions for sport competitions and 2011 is a major opportunity to develop the required facilities to spread competitive participation and leave lasting sports legacy for the city.

Positive impact created by EYOF will not only be limited to Trabzon but also to the entire Black Sea region and Turkey. Since construction of facilities is not sufficient to attain sustainable development, a long term, comprehensive strategy has been adapted. The main objective is to organize a high level EYOF by taking advantage of the experience gained from previous international sport events held in Turkey.

To achieve this goal, Executive Committee and Games Administration have been formed and commenced operational activity in collaboration with the government, local authorities, private sector and sport governing bodies.
