Tram Sessions puts bands on random Melbourne trams, for your commuting pleasure!
Basically we wanted to showcase the amazing musical talent we have access to in our wonderful city of Melbourne. Doing so in a way which challenges the norm and instead takes the joy of live music TO the people (rather than the people to the music).
We try to match the band to the tram line. Each session is generally very secretive, it happens at a different time, starting at differing tram stops and on different trams each time.
Anyone! We've had some great home bred talent such as Paul Kelly, Xavier Rudd, Oh Mercy, Vance Joy and Lisa Mitchell; as well as being privileged enough to host internationally recognisable artists such as Passenger (UK), Ben Kweller (US) Dewolff (NED), Six60 (NZ) and Hey Rosetta! (CAN).
Tram Sessions was co-founded by Nick Wallberg and Carl Johan Malmsten and is currently being maintained by a dedicated group of volunteers headed up by Justin Araco and Ashleigh Hills. Please email firstname.lastname@example.org if you have any questions for us or any great ideas you'd like to share!
